An Overview of the Design of Experiments (DOE) and Response Surface Methodology (RSM)

This presentation will give an overview of why experiments need to be designed, objectives of the design of experiments (DOE) and response surface methodology (RSM). It is shown that most analysis can be carried out with Excel by both beginning and experienced researchers. The discussion will include the use of coded variables and sign tables for fitting models using factorial, fractional factorial and response surface designs along with optimization. Several application examples will also be presented.
